The Journey 2024: A Story Told Through Silence

My textured painting Silence was featured in The Journey, an exhibition presented by Blumenthal Arts in partnership with International House during the 2024 Charlotte International Arts Festival.

From Journalism to Art

The exhibition explored personal stories of coming to America. Mine included an unexpected career change: after more than a decade working in journalism and television in Ukraine, I moved to the United States in 2017 and eventually discovered a new creative direction in painting.

Silence reflects my interest in texture, form, and emotion. The contours of a human face emerge from beneath sculpted folds of fabric, creating an image that feels both concealed and exposed. Rather than offering a single interpretation, the painting leaves viewers to find their own.

One Exhibition, Two Locations

The Journey traveled across Charlotte in fall 2024. It was first displayed at the Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts through September 17, before moving to Legion Brewing South Park, where it remained on view through October 15.

The exhibition connected personal stories with visual art, bringing them into two very different public spaces.
