About

Portrait of Lyubov Duma

Lyubov Duma is a Ukrainian artist whose work bridges traditional folk art and contemporary visual expression.

She draws inspiration from Ukrainian decorative painting traditions - particularly Petrykivka and Samchykivka - reinterpreting them through her own distinctive artistic language.

Her work explores themes of movement, lightness, and the idea of bringing forms to life. Through expressive brushstrokes, delicate detailing, and organic compositions, her paintings create a sense of flowing energy. A key element of her practice is the use of traditional hand-crafted tools, adding a unique rhythm and texture to each piece.

Exhibitions

Lyubov actively participates in the international art scene. Her work has been featured in:

  • Charlotte International Arts Festival (CIAF) - in collaboration with Blumenthal Arts
  • The Journey - Exhibition 2025, Charlotte - presented and donated original works including Meadow Bloom (8×10″) and Sky Dancer (12×12″)
  • Art Frenzy, Arts Council of York County - two works exhibited

She is also a participating artist in the upcoming The Journey (6th Year) exhibition, scheduled for September 2026 in partnership with Queen City Arts.

Charitable initiatives

An important part of Lyubov's practice is her involvement in charitable initiatives. Her work was featured in the charity auction at I Am Your Neighbor, organized by Refugee Support Services.

She has also contributed artworks to charity auctions held during concerts of Ukrainian performers, including Valeriia Vovk and Sofiia Leshyshak.

Beyond canvas

In addition to canvas work, Lyubov creates hand-painted decorative objects such as ceramic vases, blending traditional Ukrainian motifs with modern aesthetics.

Currently based in the United States, she continues to develop her artistic practice, create new collections, and promote Ukrainian decorative art to a global audience.
